ive recently purchased a freelender & alls been fine till a couple of days ago while driving it started coughing & spluttering the more gas you give it the more it trys to die lift off & blip the throttle & it comes back for a short while before cutting out altogether wont restart untill its left for a few mins then it`ll all strart again the more its driven the more frequent it becomes its a 99t with the k series 1.8i that ive heard is problematic anyhow all help gratefully recieved

have yu checked yo water levels recently - all nice and clean?

water seems o.k, was slightly low but still in the bottle is it a garage job or easy repair i know the pumps in the tank well at least i think it is

pump shud be 
i believe its a relatively easy job - others have dun it and will tell ya how.

If i were to be honest i dont have clue of whats wrong with your car BUT, the turbo went on the bread knifes td4 and i did it my self. I am far from the car mechanic but 2 days on al done with the great help from this site. My advice to you would be take a good long look at the job 1st cus i got right f**ked off with her freelander and come close to a gallon of fuel and a match, After the wife and kids and my parents stopped talking to me cus i was bad tempered doing this job. But the rewards were great NOT after the job was done just a u in a better mood now and a half hearted thanks FFS.
