Hi Guys
just about to do this conversion again, last time i took pics, but not as detailed as is being done this time, going to be doing a cd with all the info on it. will upload wiring diagram start of next week.
I am going to go the full way this time and change the interior as well, the only problem i can see is the door panels, wiring is different , that can be changed ok, the other thing is the inside door opening handle, i am sure this has been covered before but cannot find the thread.
Any help appreciated
Stuart

are you changing the dash too ? If so, be wary of this. The facelift dash (and some later pre-facelift ones too I think) are not compatable with the earlier ones. The early instruments used signals from the sensors direct to the pod, where they were displayed (eg fuel gauge). The later versions used CAN-BUS where all the signals were processed by the ecu, and then relayed up to the instrument pod.

can't remember who told me this, think it was clutchdust, quite some time ago. might be worth verifying before you take the old dash out.

good luck

That part is definitely true - not sure of if, or when they changed to it, but my 04 model definitely uses CAN-BUS.

wrong post for this but.....

I've completed the facelift of my 2000 model, with wiring and everything (suprised myself their), but now im thinking of changing just the center dash console (gear stick, hand brake, radio etc.

has anyone done this, or does anyone know whether its possible?

H'mm I think you might encounter difficulties with the hazard lights/fog lights switches - on 2004 onwards they're not part of the centre console and feature as part of the top of the dash. I seem to recall electric windows and central locking switches being located in the old centre console - on newer models these are in the doors. Again probably not impossible given access to the right materials from a newer model, but not that straightforward either!

Stuart, as you seem to be going the whole hog will you be doing the powerfold mirrors as part of this conversion?

Hi i am a follower of this site the information is great but i need some sort of wiring diagram for my facelifted freelander

Hi all,
Currently in the latter stagesof the facelife on a 03 1.8 Freelander, can anyone out there tell me if they had to change the bumper support bar and what they did with the two recovery eyes, is it just a case of a bit careful trimming to help them fit. The wiring seemed to work out fine, just a bit of trial and error, not as daunting as it looks. Pretty hard to get a wiring diagram, unless everyone was using the same new plug with the same colours.

Thanks all

Hi All,

Ok i've just done my conversion yesterday, hacked my way through the headlamp frames and fitted the lights. I wasn't entirely sure how deep to cut the frame but tried and managed to fit both lights, comparing from mine to the pictures taken by Muply and Stuart, my headlamps doesn't seem to fit 100%. Still slightly sticking out.
Can anyone who has completed the facelift please take a photo of the recesses on your front panel so i can compare againts mine?

Thanks,
Rich

Maybe you could post some pictures of yours including the headlight cutouts, then the guys here could tell you where or if you've gone wrong.

Great thread and great job Muply.

I would be very interested in a couple of those headlamp plugs if possible?

Also if anyone has the wiring diagram so that I can take a look that would be great.

I am just starting to source parts to complete the swap of the front bumper and headlamps intially on my 2001 TD4 ESX. if all goes to plan I may move onto doing teh rear bumper and panels also :)
