Sorry Mr Stuart please forgive my naivety I've only had my Freelander three weeks and until now have never been under the bonnet of any vehicle other than to top up the windscreen fluid. This is all a major learning curve for me.
The crank case filter has not been replaced as yet, I have just received the service parts today that I ordered last week, Mann oil filter, Mann Fuel filter, Air filter and would like to order if its a sensible thing to do the upgraded oil separator/crank case filter and have not yet purchased engine oil as I'm not sure which I should use.
As for the MAP sensor, I have no idea what that is or where its located. I also do not know what the Turbo actuator is.
I got the car three weeks ago, and went from London to Devon for the bank holiday weekend with it, it was only on the hills and when I kicked down that I noticed the lack of power and black smoke. had never driven one before that so didn't know how it should perform.. so I guess it had been like that since I got it..

please , no need to ever apologise , will get there in the end

will find some pics for u to tell u where parts are, sorry i meant maf not map , doh,

the replacement of the crank case breather is very important , get the upgraded BMW type, it's a very clever designed piece of plastic that doesn't need changing

shame ur not closer otherwise i could have helped u fit the parts etc, am in swanley kent and gone through the engine

if we start with the easy bits first to eliminate as a matter of course , can then tick them off as we go along ,

Mr Stuart If your happy to help with the work I'm happy to pay for it. Kent isn't to far for me, as mentioned I was in Devon last weekend which is a place I travel to every 5 weeks or so.

give me a moment and ill go out and take a photo of the engine..:)

many thks for the pic,

think first

1) have u checked all the vaccum hoses please for holes
2) if u look at post 18 and the picture , find the pipe that is suppose to go to the filter , making sure it's not connected to anything plse , know u said the filter is not there , its pipe number 3
2 ) get the crankcase filter replaced

hope that's a start to get u going

if ur stuck plse take a pic of the back of the engine and can guide u

Ok I'm happy to give it a go, you tell me where to start and ill do my very best to get it done. and thank you very much for your help, I really appreciate it.

on one condition u don't pay for it, i've always helped other lz members foc , i wouldn't be able to change the oil etc as i've got a screwed up back and abit rough at the moment , but more than happy to help u

we can certainly check all the vaccum hoses , replace the crankcase breather and go through it for u ,

did u also want to blank off the egr valve , there is a kit for that , as we could get it all done in one go

its gary by the way, lol

if it's easier for u we can arrange a day for u to come over and i can go through. the entire engine

can send a list of parts and if u wish get it all done in one go

In the pic you attached numbered 1,2 and 3
I have changed I think its no 2, the long one that goes to the vac tank, I haven't taken off 1 and 3, I think 3 was meant to go to a filter, but mine didn't it was connected to the engine as shown in my earlier picture. I will take them off and replace them with new seeing as I have the hose anyway.
Ive had the engine cover off to change the long vac hose, I've had the air filter box off and have seen where the crank case filter lives.
I need to get some inverted torx sockets to remove and replace the crank case filter with the upgraded one which ive not ordered yet. does the oil need to be drained from the engine to change the crank case filter..?

Hi Gary, I'm Dean.
Ok lets start again lol
Yes if you could help that would be amazing. a list of parts and where to purchase would be perfect. any day at all suits me as I'm off work as I take care of a disabled son.

yes , best to check what hoses go to which, just in case they have been put on wrong by the previous person

have to be 100 percent there are no holes in the vaccum pipes, if there is the turbo actuator won't work

u don't have to drain the oil to replace the crankcase filter

see ur egr valve is still fitted , we normally always blank them, there is a kit and can send u a link if u wish

Why do you need an expert On Freelander1, Freelander2, NAS spec, TD4, KV6, K1.8 and L series Freelanders?
You haven't said whether the problem is electrical, mechanical, engine or drive train related.
If you don't know any of that, you are beyond help - I am out.
