My freelander bumbers and trims are very grey and I would like to get them back to black.

I have tried Black Trim Wax and it looked good but as soon as it rained it all come off (3 hours of my life wasted)...

Someone suggested Boiled linseed oil, so I tried that but it just made the bumbers shiny and not black.

Has anyone tried Shoe Scuff Cover??

Any ideas anyone??

mine are (were) grey an my 98

Autoglym do something called black trim dye in an aerosol

you can either spray it on or spray it onto a cloth or sponge and wipe it on

It dries very quick !!!!!

1st couple of coats it looks a bit streaky cos the solvent in the spray wipes off what youve put on but eventually over a week or so the will be black !!

did mine once a week for a couple of weeks and now they are black - doesnt wash off either - oh and wear gloves !!!!!! pain to get off ya hands when its dry !!!!

Yes, I used to own a couple of Ravs whose bumpers & trim had gone very grey & found black Kiwi Leather scuff cover to be very good. It takes a while to do the whole car & you'll be better with a couple of bottles as you'll use at least one of them. It will last for around 6 months before you need to reapply & you'll find it easier to do second time around. When you first apply it, it will appear quite streaky but you can buff up the worst with a clean cloth & after a couple of car washes it will look nice & uniform.

Be very wary of the so called permanent ones. I used one of these on my first Rav & despite meticulous preperation using the kits cleaner the "dye/paint" started to flake off after 3 months.

Kiwi scuff cover is cheap & works. You can also dress your tyres with it.

That reminds me, must get some more & do my bumpers.

AutoGlym Bumper Care... its a green goo that you wipe on with a microfibre.

It'll make your bumpers look like new, whatever colour they are supposed to be :p

tried the bumper care stuff - its ok but doesnt turn gey bumpers black !!

the stuff i used was Autoglym Trim dye (or something like that)

its in a large aerosol with a blue badge
