my parents have a 2005 flander td4 hse, and they have an issue with the volumetrics.
This was tested when some low life broke a window to get at some items stupidly left on show inside the vehicle.
Even though the alarm was set on the plipper, no alarm went off.
On further investigation we were told by a lr dealer that the volumetrics were not fitted, and it would be best to return the car back to the supplying dealer to get it sorted.
This was done, however when the car returned I thought I would test it myself by setting the alarm on the plipper and once armend opening a door with the key. Again no siren.
Land Rover are now saying that the volumetrics are not standard but an option, which seems a little odd for the top range model.
Even our Defender has this, allbiet county pack.

My questions are, does anyone know if it should be standard on the hse ?(looking at used car spec, it appears to me that it should be)

has anyone alse got this problem?

Does anyone actually think they have volumetrics, and have you tested it?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry to assume this is only available in England.

The car is located smack bang in the middle of our little island.

we have a 98 1.8 model that has volumetric sensor, I asume this was standard. I tested it by leaving a window down, arming the car with the "plipper" and sticking my arm in and waving it around. alarm went off straight away. yours being a HSE I would expect it to be a standard fitment. (and to be working). Demand they fix it.
Good luck

Thanks for that aussie,

i have test tested it numerous ways including the one you mention.

It even mentions in the manual, that if you intend to leave say a four legged friend in the car for a while only lock with the key.

what I cant understand at the moment, is that LR are now saying that the volumetrics are optional. Maybe so, but on an HSE???.

we do not except Land Rover's explanation on this at the moment, especially when the same year Defender with county pack has volumetrics as standard.

Any more experiences greatly appreciated.

Hi Ivor,

Just went to the garage, lowered my window and put alarm on with the fob. Then waved my arm inside of the car and after a couple of waves the alarm went off. This is in a 2001 Td4 SE in Belgium. Ciao.

volumetrics are discontinued, not sure from what model year (somewhere around 05 I think) but it's not an option or standard fit any more.

Probably discontinued 'cos of all the problems they've had with 'em

hello !

I've just tried mine and it doesn’t work! Mines an early 2005 model 1.8 XEI

should I ask land rover about it as its going in next month??

Cheers!

I would let them know about it, though they will probably tell you that some cars have it and some dont .

I think there is quite a few around with this problem.

If you buy a car with an alarm of any type, I would at least expect a siren to go off in the event of a door being opened by any method apart from the use of the blipper. Providing the alarm was set in the first place.
I dont except LR's explanation, and I wont go away quietly.
As stated, the same system works perfectly in our same year Defender.
The more people that kick up a stink when things aint right, results in better service eventually.(that goes for any company)
Our money is 100% good, with no corners chipped off and can be spent anywhere.
We should not except crap.

I agree, keep me posted if anything happens, i'll do the same. My worry is that my insurance have the car down as having an alarm!
