Have finally solved a vibration problem which had not affected the steering. The car had done 21,000 miles...95% of which was on the motorway. Landrover inspection informed me that the tyres were deformed and needed replacing, no reasons given. A Landrover friend suggested that I have the geometry checked. This turned out to be very out of line and apparently the car would have been "crabing". The technician's opinion was that the car had been like this from new. I informed Landrover who didn't want to know. Subsequently replaced the rear Goodyear Wranglers with Michelin Diamaris. Problem solved!!!!! E-mailed Goodyear several weeks ago.....no reply! Hope this helps anyone with a vibration problem.

I'm a little confused here, did you have the steering aligned before changing the tyres? If not then the Michelin's you have just put on will soon be knackered and the vibration will start again. If you did get the steering aligned, then it's more likely that it's this that has solved the problem, rather than changing the type of tyres you have fitted. I am not surprised Goodyear have not got back to you, the problem does not lie with their tyres.

After having the geometry rectified the vibration still existed as the tyres were already deformed i.e. uneven wear and they were impossible to balance. I changed to Michelin because my Freelander 1 had done 50,000 on a set of Michelins. My whole issue is that the probability is that my car was dispatched from the factory with incorrect geometry. I take note of your comment regarding lack of response from Goodyear. However, wouldn't a reply have been a courtesy as they invite comments!
