Earlier this year, after not having driven our Landrover Discovery 4 (2016) for a while, the "CHECK ENGINE" light went on. Winter was also cold here in Finland. Went to the local service and they told me that AdBlue level was low. Added AdBlue but it did not help. They also services engine but quite soon it began to leak diesel. That turned out to be a faulty filter which they replaced with a better one. This might or might not be relevant for the actual EGR problem.
Next authorized LandRover service got the actual fault code which was P045B-77 EGR “B” Control Circuit Range/Performance. The conclusion by the service was that the EGR Valve has to be replaced. Parts are about 1600 euros (!) and work about 700 euros so it is not cheap.
I had the vehicle emissions checked and they were very low but car did not pass the annual inspection as the "Check Engine" light is on.
I also have my own iCarsoft Diagnostic Tool LR V3.0. It gives the same fault code. Additionally it seems to report that the EGR valve is constantly showing 4.7%. Diesel filter soot concentration is 3.55 g/m3.
Last DPF regeneration was according to the meter some 600 km away. So went through the process of forcing it to run the regeneration. Then the "Check Engine" light was off for about 100 km but then came back again. What I don't also know what it means when "Diesel particulate filter volume remaining" is 0L ? This measurement was taken, however, when vehicle was not moving.
So the question is: can it be concluded that replacing the EGR valve is the only solution? Would not like to spend that money if it does not solve the problem.
There are no signs of decreased performance of the vehicle.
Thank you in advance for any help on this issue!
