Could someone tell me the correct Power Steering Fluid for a Freelander 2 (2009)
The handbook says Pentosin CHF 202 should be used and my local LR dealer says Ravenol SSF Full Synthetic is what I need.
Does it really matter what one is used or do they both do the same job?
Thanks.

The correct fluid is important, as accelerated steering gear occurs with the wrong fluid in there. The factory spec fluid is green in colour (that's what I use), but as long as the fluid in the system meets the correct Ford specification, it shouldn't be an issue. Looking at the data sheet, the Revenol SSF does meet the specifications, it's just not green.

The system must not be filled or topped up with normal red PS fluid, as it's not compatible with the system components, resulting in failures.

Hi Nodge68, Sorry I haven't replied sooner to your post, I have carried out the repairs myself fitted a new Reservoir and filled with CHF202 Green fluid. The high pressure hose stayed on and the power steering is working. On my previous post I have had nothing but bother trying to keep the high pressure hose staying on, and the only difference is I fitted a new Reservoir and filled with CHF 202 Green fluid. I took the car the other day for a MOT and passed.:D:D
Thanks to you and all who have responded and helped me along the way 👏👏

Hi all: I also have a 2009 LR2, and a can of Pensosin CHF 11s (for some reason). And I've seen the recommendation for the CHF 202 in the manual, and online, and have used that in the past to top up my PS unit... which I replaced a few years ago with a junkyard unit, and needed it for that.

But I also see this CHF11s being recommended for several Land Rover models other than mine, and also that it is supposed to be "compatible" with CHF202. I've even seen it recommended, in a couple of instances, for my year and model.

Is it? Is it OK, or even, safe, to use the CHF11s I do have, to top up my power steering reservoir? And I can't find WHERE on my year and model CHF11s is actually used, so I'm actually clueless as to why I even have this! Although my daughter used to have a Volvo XC70, and a Tiguan, so maybe it was one of those.

What do all think about me using this? And what is the difference between 11s and 202?
