Good morning. New to the Landyzone site but a Land Rover owner for several years. I'm having a rteally annoying problem with a Freelander 2 rear hatch/door that intermittently refuses to open. Had a real problem getting three sets of golf clubs out yesterday! The micro switch clicks but the door doesn't release. The door is now firmly closed and refuses to open. Anyone out there with any ideas? Nigel

You misunderstand the problem. I can unlock all the doors, including the tailgate, from either the dashboard switch or the key. It's the tailgate latch, not the lock that's the problem.

You misunderstand, can you open the boot with the boot release button on the fob, or the release switch low down in the dash ? Helps with identifying the faulty part

So if the latch works from the key fob it is most likely the boot switch at fault, that is the common problem anyhow, surprised there is no release switch below the steering wheel , near the dimming switch ,

All sorted now; thanks to all for their advice. The tailgate opens on the key fob, I don't have a dashboard switch (mine's an '09). Removal of the tailgate lining trim is easy; a screw in each of the inside handholds and the trim just pops off the fixings (be brave and give it a good pull!). The tailgate switch and number plate lights are housed in the outside trim rail which is held in place by six 10mm nyloc nuts accessible from the inside of the tailgate. The switch assembly and wiring harness are a simple swap over. Back on the road.
