Hello, just wandering if any other freelander 2 owners have had problems with clutch judder?

I have with my 07 reg 2.2 TD4 which i brought from new. 8 months down the line i started to notice what can only be described as clutch judder when pulling hard in 3rd or 4th gear right in the power band. I couldn't believe it!
Although we use it for towing i am very easy on the clutch and have towed with a number of vehcile for a number of years and have never had a problem. Further more we brought it specifically for towing.

The clutch pedal felt normal and if you didn't ask for two much thottle it was fine.

The following week we were due to go on our hols and i was very concerned about towing our caravan, so i went to pick it up to see how it towed.

It was worse than ever doing it in every gear other than 1st.

I immediately called the dealer. Being a mechanic myself i was well aware of the costs that could be involved once the vehcile was on their lift the gear box out should they decide it was driver abuse!

After several converations with the work shop controller they had decided that the flywheel was to blame. The dual mass had failed which was causing the judder.

All was fine....... for another 9 months.

It started happening again:doh:. This time i was even worse and i was even more concerned that the dealer would try and shift the blame on to us!

After conducting a road test with one of the mechanics he agreed with me that it was clutch judder and confirmed that it was a warranty issue. He then went on to say that they had a simular case recently and the clutch was to blame.

Whilst the Freelander was in having the clutch replaced the dealer had loaned us a courtesy vehicle and something that seemed very obvious was how much harder the clutch pedal was to press down, i had a look at the over centre spring and it looked the same as mine. I brought this to the dealers attention and i asked if the clutch had been modified to which they replied no, the part had not been modified or superseeded.

When i got mine back the pedal felt the same as it did before.

I am now left wondering how much longer till it happens again. Any one else had a problem?
