Freelander 2 ABS Hydraulics Control Unit

Am new to this forum & am looking for some advice. I've a Freelander 2 XS TD4 & the ABS Hydraulics Control Unit is faulty. A new one - part # LR007209 - costs a staggering £1,200+. I can buy a replacement from a breaker for £250. Is this ABS HCI coded to a specific vehicle? And if so, can I get the second-hand unit re-coded by my independent specialist? I'm sure a Land Rover dealer won't want to fit & re-code a used part supplied by me. And if they do, they'll probably charge the earth. Thanks a lot.

You're better off starting a new thread on the Freelander forum, rather than asking someone who's not been on the forum for 6 years.

There's an episode of Wheeler Dealers where they get an ABS unit re-furbed and it gives the company name, prces seemed very reasonable. i think it was these:
