Dortmunder

Am new to the forum. I've a Freelander 2 XS TD4 & the ABS Hydraulics Control Unit is faulty. A new one - part # LR007209 - costs a staggering £1,200+. I can buy a replacement from a breaker for £250. Is this ABS unit coded to a specific vehicle? And if so, can I get the second-hand unit re-coded by my independent specialist? I'm sure a Land Rover dealer won't want to fit & re-code a used part supplied by me. And if they do, they'll probably charge the earth. Thanks a lot.
