Just been testing my 2.2 tdi boost today as I am replacing a weeping intercooler at the weekend and wanted to know the before values.

I get pressure at the manifold of 36 psi
Boost pressure of 22 psi
14 psi at air filter

So I guess the reading you quoted was pressure at inlet manifold and not boost.

Either way it looks like my new intercooler isn't going to improve things other than the stain on my front bumper.

If the intercooler is only weeping a tiny amount of oil, the it's not loosing enough boost to worry about.
Don't forget that the ECM will control the boost based on what the inlet manifold is registering, and the intercooler is before the inlet manifold. As the turbo is able to supply considerably more air than the engine needs, the boost leak needs to be large enough to outstrip the ability of the turbo to supply boost. Or a huge discrepancy between boost pressure and air volume measured at the MAF occurs, which the ECM will determine and flag an error code.

Does that make sense?
