Hi, I’ve been getting a Freelander 1 td4 auto ready for mot test.

having a problem with the tc/hill decent light. Start the car and they are off but soon as you select drive and accelerate they light up.

I have ran the codes and got p0705, I’ve noticed on the gear select the light doesn’t light up when in neutral, if you rest your hand on the gear-lever and lightly push it lights up. On the diagnosis it is not recognising neutral, (only when light pressure is applied does it find neutral)

is this the gear linkage or the inhibitor switch?

many thanks Matt

There are some gear selector position sensors under the cover. These can fail, or the pulti-plug can corrode, if some liquid gets spilled on the gear selector cover.

What year is the vehicle?

Nothing obvious wrong, although the actual groove for neutral feels bit sloppy.

definatly strange as every gear selects fine at the little light comes on next to the selected gear. Apart from neutral.
