The car had been standing switched off for 8 weeks. The battery got drained. Hence it won't start. Got battery charged. All dash lights come on, fuel pump can be heard working. The car turns but does not start. Is there any way to reset EMC( engine management unit) or could it be car immobiliser? Any advise is appreciated. This car is currently in Tanzania. They don't have LR experts.

On the dash, the engine lamp does not come ON, at switch ON, does this suggest the engine management is OFF? A local mechanic checked spark from the coil to be OK. Any advise given will be passed over.
Thanks guys

The engine light doesn't usually come on when you turn the key. The oil light, abs and battery light usually do come on, but go out after a while.

Make sure there is fuel getting to the spark, you haven't said whether your mechanic hs checked fuel is getting through ok and there is good pressure in the fuel rail.

Thanks Freebiker
I will txt this information to Guys in Tanzania and post the information. When the batt was flat, the rear boot glass had dropped down. Is this normal? Also could it be that the key and the immobiliser has lost synchonisation? How can it be resynch?
Honestly, this car passed MOT end of Jan and was shipped, it docked a week ago and has not started ever since. Thanks again

The rear window dropping is normal in those circumstances.

I'd say there is nothing wrong with the immobiliser at all as you say the engine is turning over when trying to start. This wouldn't happen at all if the imobiliser had not switched off.

It sounds much more likely to be something basic.

There is some more information:
The car in transit, somehow suffered a ruptured radiator hose. Coolant was drained. A new hose fitted, but the engine now overheats when turning. Can this cause engine not to fire? The spark is there at all plugs and petrol pump works. The petrol flow is good. Still the car not fire.
