New here and really need some help. I have a 55 plate Freelander 1.8 petrol. It was overheating and eventually the head went! It is at a LandRover specialist garage and so far it has had a reconditioned engine, new water pump, new thermostat, new radiator and timing belt. It is still overheating and garage has basically given up on it! They do not know what else to do. Any GENIUS mechanics out there???? It should be noted that I am a woman and as such do not understand "car talk" lol.

check the cooling system has been bleed rite? i change the water reservoir cap (worked for me)
if the car running does the blowers in side get warm????

Why on earth did they put a reconditioned engine in there? What is the history for that engine do you know?

Thanks for your reply. Husband suggested to them today that they should bleed engine again and I emailed them hopefully the right way it should be done. Whether they will listen or not is another matter. The heater only works intermittently, mostly just blows cold, but AC works fine! Oh, and it has had a new reservoir cap.
That was our choice and we bought the engine! At the time I was unaware of the issues with this engine type. Mad fools I know!

is there no warrenty on recon engine ,not all are built well and even if they are parts can be faulty ,or is it just second hand engine which most likely would have issue too a/c has no input but heater does as will only work if theres enough coolant and no air in system

wonder if they checked liner heights etc, or even knew not to move pistons with head off?
