Freelander 1.8 Engine needed

Hello everyone, friend of mine has had an engine fail in her 2000 Freelander and is in dire need of a reliable engine.
As we only break range rovers we have nothing of use for her.
Can anyone help or point us in the direction of a reliable supplier?

K-series engines are sadly not reliable & used ones less so. Try an ebay search, usually plenty of low mileage units on there from rover models though I think you need to swap over a couple of bits like sump etc. Also watch whether they've got a distributor or not, I believe that both can fit but needs work if you don't swap like for like. You really need one of the k-series boys to help with info though.

surely its just easier to spend a little more and get a decent l series or td4 ?
