Found refurbished VCU on ebay!

Hi all,

in my seeking for new VCU I had the idea to search on ebay, and, low and behold, it's there:

Also I looked on alibaba and I found there with part number (TOR000010):

These are not complete, seems they miss the protection ring

Best avoid anything that isn't a genuine GKN, or refurbished by Bell Engineering.

Yeh, it is a big gamble if you don't buy from known good sources. There have been plenty of very poor quality cowboy outfits selling rubbish - either to 'loose' and don't do anything, or to 'tight' and knacker the car.

You mention in your intro that you are interested in refurbing the VCU yourself. Some bed time reading for you...

Initially I thougt to refurbish myself, completely opening it by one side, cleaning, and then fill with fluid (and parts! ) and then sell it by welding... but! For now I'd rather prefer to buy it from bell engineering (https://www.bellengineering.co.uk/product-page/land-rover-freelander-1-reconditioned-vcu) to have a fully functional part and then, when I'll can, look for a part to refurbish and try my DIY
That's mostly because I have to find the right fluid specs (and quantity) before stripping down my old VCU
