yeah but I just donet want to have to involve my insurance and it will if I go tha route. it all depends on how much they are asking for like I said

Absolutely no need to involve insurance, the Astra ran into you cos he was too close. I used to have a fleet of 35 on my company, this sort of thing was a regular occurance, never involved insurance if it was the other drivers fault, just issued a writ.

Yes, if the SOB who ran into one of our cars didn't pay up, just went to the small claims court and issued a writ or whatever they call it these days, if the driver wanted to involve his or her insurance that was up to them, but regardless, they got 30 days to pay or it was into court. Insurance companies didn't like it but legaly the claim is against the driver, the insurance covers the driver so you don't have to deal with either insurance company in this situation if you do not want to.

no proof its not my fault that I hit them, would pay cash and get it sorted with out using my insurance, no claimes etc. what we reckon for the light then , £200,£400?

Police just rang and they say that they cant do anything becuase they cant tell who it is and insurance will have to sort it.

trouble is the astra was owned by the dealer so I can see this getting pricey!
You might very well be luck there then if the car was new and belonged to the dealer.
My partner once rear ended a brand new car with the sales man driving it.
They didnt want to go through insurance as this could show up on the new cars history. It was easier and cheaper in the longrun for them to repair it their selves and keep the cars history clean for resale. dont offer cash, we have insurance for a reason.
Good luck

sounds like a hard road but I will keep it in minds depending on how much they want to fix it.

Mines just a new rear lense, but even that is only broken on the bottom so i will probably just leave it as it lets the water drain out lol

topcat, sounds like I might be, will only pay cash if it works out cheaper in the long run than paying my excess and hiked up premiums for years to come.

You could always claim that actually you stoped and the astra hit you from behind:) How is your neck by the way:D

Some fooker with a fake number plate came round the one way sytem the wrong way, pushed me into the car behind and fooked off.

Got his number and when the police arrived (by coincidence, very timely thank God) they ran the plates, which I managed to write down in a hurry and they dont exist, FFS!

Luckily I was in the classic and it did fook all other the break a little plastic of my back light but the classic smashed the headlight on the 2010 astra it hit and put a little dent in the bonnet  gonna be pain in my wallet!

Any ideas on what a 2010 astra healight costs guys???

Police are looking for the offender now, number plate is s361 nrx if you see it, it looked like an older blue escort or fiesta but it was very quick and I was keener on writing down the number plate, fook all good it did me

Great fookin end to the week FFS:eek:

You are not liable to the Astra owner : liability arises from negligence. You were not negligent. Both of you were victims of the same act of negligence.
What you should do is inform your insurers of what happened. Tell them that you do not propose to make a claim as you will be fixing your own vehicle and you are simply informing them for their own protection.
Write to the Astra owner : tell him you have taken advice and you are not liable for any damage to his vehicle : both of you have a calim against the Motor Insurers Bureau.

Do you have legal cover with your insurance? If so you can use this whether you are claiming on your insurance or not. They will chase up claim with MIB and handle 3rd party.
