Mine is a 1978 Series 3 and it is also mounted on the front drivers side next to the radiator so perhaps they did put them there as well.

Mines an 1965 88.
That’s all they need to know. It has parts on it from every series and a few from other manufacturers. The big stuff is as original 88 spec and very likely been replaced more than once. I know I’ve replaced a few twice already.
