I would like to have the mirrors fold in when I lock the doors with the keyfob.

I have had my mirrors hit several times over the past few weeks by cars and pedestrians(pub nearby).

why not just use your hands and fold them in ?

Haha MrEvil very good. I think that is your Series 1 there.

I have a switch in the truck to fold the electric mirrors in but ICBFA to do this every time I park it also I have a habit of forgetting to close them. Also you have to hit the switch before opening the door so it make it a PITA to open the doors with traffic around. Hence the idea of closing the mirrors with the central locking activation.

Give me some time and i'll check the diagram, and if it's easyly doable i'll report back... normally it doesnt have to be so hard as long as the switch is an impulse one.

BUT... for that u must have RAVE and know how to read an electric diagram... otherwise we'll not understand each other(due to my english knowledge in the technical terms area:eek:)

I have a solution

The button for the mirrors is just a simple 2 point push button right ?

Thusly it'll be connecting to two parallel circuits one which keeps the mirrors open one that shuts them now you want to engage the second circuit upon closing the door and locking the door

Although its not an ideal method the way I would suggest without going too over the top would be to re-rout the contact points on the second circuit to the underside of the door lock in its up position and then another to its closed position.

Not a high tech solution involving the reprogramming of the circuits just a simple one involving elongating some wires and placing them in different positions

Now to stop it from being over-ridden by the open circuit you'll have to re-route the ends of the wires if they are on a parallel circuit to just below the mirror open set if you want to keep the button.

If not re-route both circuits through the door lock with one on either side of the lock with set up in opposites ……if you understand what I mean

The mirrors are controlled by moving the tilt etc switch to centre then move it down once to close, then move down again to open. So I think it not a simple on/off switch as it returns to centre after you open/close it.

Its the same idea except you send two electrical charges to the same point to swap the contact so splitting it would work if you were do do something with the wiring

I checked the scheme.... the folding has it's own ECU too besides the "intelligent" switch... IMO it's not doable to fold on key lock command without major mods.

How about bypassing the power fold ECU, and then make something else up that folds them in when the ignition is off? Probably just need a couple of relays.

I don't have power fold mirrors, but it looks to me like you just put peer to them 1 way to fold them in, and reverse it to fold them out. Not sure if they have some sort of switch to cut the power automatically when they reach the end stop, or if the ECU just sends power for a couple of seconds. If thats the case then you would need to add a small timer in to make sure the power is cut once they have folded.

Just a thought.
