From the looks of it you will need to be quite brutal to remove it!
I used a bar across mine and made sure that I have a lump of steel to pivot against, to prevent bruising the housing.
Then clean the housing and everything around it with a 600+ grit emery, give the housing a light coating of oil and you should find that the new oil seal fits perfectly.

Thanks James might just clean it up and leave it, knowing my track record Ill just break something else. But then again Looks like its the first time someones been in there so that bearing could have been there from new, since 1987:eek:

Still cant decide what to do leave the Bearing alone or change, but don't really think im confident enough to strip diff down to change both.

While where on the subject of rear axle, I have snapped a bolt on both front hubs, They will not budge, tried heat but still no joy. Any suggestions??
I have a decent rear axle from 90, but will the hubs off it fit my Salisbury ??
Thanks

When that happened to mine I managed to spend more ££ on broken drill bits than it would have cost to buy a new hub, and then still had to buy a new hub! Not saying it isn't doable but unless the prices have gone up hugely since I got mine (about 5 years ago) I would seriously consider a new replacement, especially if you have already tried heating and it won't budge..

Think I've Knackered one of the hubs, so will need another, Gonna try the local breakers but if they dont have one, Does anyone know part number ? mine is 1987 Salisbury rear axle hub.
Thanks

Thank You James.
The spare axle I mentioned before from a 90. I may be wrong about the age of it as when I was doing my front axle, I got parts off it that did fit mine, can you tell by looking at it ??I'm sure I have a photo somewhere of the spare rear axle.
The front ball off it fitted mine as it was the same with bearing at bottom and bush at top. Will try and get the photo on.
