Hello,

I'm wondering how to fit speakers into the underside of the dashboard and how I route the wires!? Does anybody have any pics of the wire routing and stuff? They're stuck in the headliner at the moment. Will they sound a lot better in the dashboard?

Cheers

speakers will nver sound any good in the defender as there simply isnt a good enough place to mount them unless you make a purpose built box.
mine are under the dash and fitted with some spacers they still sound cack in there tho.

in my old 87 td 90 i had them in the head liner (just above the driver & passengers head ) and made 2 boxs for 2 more above the rear quater windows always had a good sound from them (did use some good quality sony speakers though )
must say i am now a bit deaf as a result :D

My landy is really ****ing me off today. I've spent half the day underneath it waxoyling and fitting the stereo and stuff (you know, giving it treats) and it's being a gay  There's a funny rattling noise coming from the front end intermittently and I don't know what it is

Don't know that it is to be truthful. It's not like its a rocker because it'd be doing it all the time. There's not really anything to come loose and then tighten back up with them is there! I think its just a new rattle that I've never heard before.

UJ's would be a good thing for it to be... at they're its cheap and easy to fix.

Exactly when does it do it?

Yeah that's what I'm hoping and thinking. It only seems to do it when the car is in motion, even with the clutch peddle fully pressed it continues to make the noise. It's not the kind of noise I'd expect a UJ to make though, it's a kind of rattling tapperty tap sound! Im going to check for play in the joint now.

With regards to speakers. Ive got two sealed boat speakers mounted at the back of the footwell behind ya feet. They sound pretty good as they are in their own case and produce a bit of bass.

But you still gotta crank em up to drown out the noise of the landy!

Ive fitted some alpine speakers in the headliner and they sound superb! Big buggers too, cost me £24, thats £4 more than some ****ty kenwood ones from argos which sounded naff.
