erm i know what ****in limp home mode is i was just wondering how yer turbo which is a MECHANICAL device has one? what engine yer got fitted?

turn down the turbo make no fookin sense whatsoever you can turn down the boost pressure which will open the waste gate sooner

i would say yer injection system cant supply fuel fast enough to cope with the amount of boost your running or the boost is spiking above what the ecu has in its map
 
Well i dunno?!?! im no mechanic, just came to that conclusion from reading about it here, tis a td5, could it be the filter, think thats a bit dodgey, was causing trouble a while back, but then was fine, should a swap it over? i have a spare one. what your saying sounds right though, it does seem a bit starved i suppose.
 
td5 doesnt have a lift pump. there is the pump in the tank and regulator on the back of the engine the injectors are driven off the cam and act as there own pumps.

ive just and a faulty pump in the tank replaced. it would shut down and cause a fuel pressure drop below 4 psi which would trip the injectors out brought out topside switch failure post injection, injector 1,2,3,4,5 circut open.
the engine would lose all power and become really really rough and die.

if the fuel filter abover the driver rear wheel is blocked it could do the same thing
am i right g-man?
 
see now, this is where it gets complicated.... ok, i had a fuel filter problem a few months back, engine would loose power as cylinders emptied, sluggish, would pull over, engine would nearly die, then regain some composure as the cylinders filled up at idle... classic filter starvation symptoms, so i swapped over the filter, twas grand for a day, same thing happened next day, then it was grand for about a month until it happened again, and now it seems fine except for this current issue at 60-70 mph.... hmmm
 
is there fuel on the back of the block, drivers side i think. does it drop fuel on the floor from there overnight.

im not saying its your pump just my experince with what the engine does and the faults logged with low fuel pressure issuses
 
have you checked inside your tank you could have debris? I had a digger that had similar problem with a bit of plastic bag.

As for the other problem I have the same set up as you with just a rear silencer on my 110 TD5 and I have a power box and K&N Filter. I found that with the box off mine used to struggle a bit at high revs. It went when i changed the air filter and fitted the box.

Any more than 1bar and the ECU goes into limp mode until you restart the engine.
You need an adapter box if you want to run higher boost pressures on the TD5. You also need a bigger intercooler otherwise you're wasting your time.

I run 1.2bar measured at the inlet manifold with no problems (not counting my engine fragging itself due to oil pump failure) but I do have a hot map from TD5Alive.
 
no jdandcoke, im familiar with this pump issue on my mothers td5 disco, and its definitly not that, had a good look around the engine today... i should have mentioned ive blanked the egr too ;)

is your hot map done via nanocom
 
i dont know to be honest shifty, it had a previous owner, so anythings possible, but the limp mode issue was occurring before i changed exhaust, i know how to turn it down but how far down should it be?? ive no gauge you see..
