... i should have mentioned ive blanked the egr too ;)
Won't cause any problems like you describe. Blanking is same as when the EGR valve is closed.
is your hot map done via nanocom
No it was done by Gary at TD5Alive.
i dont know to be honest shifty, it had a previous owner, so anythings possible, but the limp mode issue was occurring before i changed exhaust, i know how to turn it down but how far down should it be?? ive no gauge you see..
Changing the exhaust won't cause limp mode operation. You could run with an open turbo outlet and the engine would see very little difference. It would however melt your heater box etc.

You need to get a boost gauge or you've got no way to see what the turbo is doing. They are cheap on eBay and once fitted give a good indication of how your turbo is working. Small adjustments on the wastegate actuator equals big changes in turbo boost. On mine a half turn was equal to just under 3psi. I took out the poxy clock in my dash and replaced it with the boost gauge. Looks factory fitted. Dont forget that there is always a pressure drop across the intercooler and piping which on my TD5 fitted with an intercooler the size of my radiator was equal to 3psi. That is the with the turbo boosting to 21psi at the turbo outlet the pressure at the inlet manifold is 18psi.
