ok lads, im no mechanic, and im expecting a delivery of the decat and straight through mid pipe tomorrow, is it an easy nuts and bolts swap?? heard something about putty of sumting??

thanks :D

nuts and bolts job :) , might be worth getting some GUN GUM or something along those lines ( exhaust sealing paste/putty )

.

right, fitted the straight through last night in the ****ing rain, couldnt get the downpipe off the manifold/turbo, all the bolts were rightly stuck.... any pointers?

Use true hex sockets if you have them rather than the 12 corner type common in a lot of socket sets. This makes rounding off impossible.
One by one warm the nuts up with a blow torch then try tightening them a tad before undoing. Get them soaking in some "plus gas" or similar.
Mine were a right bastard to undo just a year after fitting a new turbo.
One of the nuts had to be carefully cut with an angle grinder and split off the stud. The good news is that if you damage the stud they can be screwed out and replaced.

right, got the three bolts off the downpipe, with loads of extensions and a big metal bar :D next problem is how do i get it out of the engine bay?theres a big lump of metal running from one side of the chassis to the other which is stopping me from just dropping it straight out, does that come off or is there an easier way of doing it??

My mate fits custom made stainless exhuasts, they just use a smear of silicone sealant on the joints, works a treat!

If the crossmember does not unbolt then the pipe will have to come up through the engine bay. To do this you will need to get the front of the car as high as you can. Jack it up and set it on wheel ramps or axle stands before you get under it though.

Dont use any putty. Any small gaps will soon fill up with soot.
I put my straight through system on dry and it went together and sealed up no problem.

job done lads, got the crossmember off after about an hour of heating, swearing, wd40, and a large hammer :D its all fitting nicely and sounds great, only thing is, when reaching 60-70 mph the engine seems to loose power for a split second ever so often and then if i try push for 70 the turbo goes into limp mode.... any suggestions??

how do you mean the turbo goes into limp mode?

limp mode is a safety setting on the ecu which reduces the turbos input if the ecu reads that theres too much air entering the engine. im guessing its 2.5 dia since it fits the original back box??
