Fitting Cobra Immobiliser

In the hopes of making my replacement 300Tdi 90 harder to steal than the last one, I've bought a Cobra 8510 Immobiliser to fit (along with a tracker which is on its way from Ryder and some other hardware)

The instructions don't have much explanation with them so I'm a little unsure about the best places to connect everything into.

Here is what I need to connect:

* GND connections (2 wires to be connected in different places - I guess these go to exposed bodywork like other ground connections)

* +15 Ignition Live Wire (2 wires to be connected in different places)

* +30 Permanent Positive

* 1st immobilisation (2 wires)

* 2nd immobilisation (2 wires)

The immobilisation relays are rated for 20A for 3secs, 10A continuous according to the specs, so I guess this means they can go on the actual starter motor circuit.


If anyone can provide any insight on where I should be making these connections (and in the case of the two immobilisations, which circuits I should be cutting to connect them in - starter motor and fuel cut off?) I would much appreciate it.
 
The 1st and 2nd imobiliser wires you need to break into a circuits needed to start the car ie stop solenoid on first and starter solenoid switch on second you could even break the electric fuel pump feed if you have one the decision is yours, the others are self explanatory

Ground. earth
+15. Live when ignition is switched .......back of ignition switch
+30. Permanent live ............................back of ignition switch

I think I'm getting my head around this now. I was getting confused by thinking the +30 referred to +30v - am I right in thinking that the ones labelled +15 and +30 will actually connect to 12v lines?

Is +15 just a shorthand for switched 12v and +30 shorthand for constant 12v?
 
That was my next thought after voltages, but that wouldn't make sense with the fuses on those circuits on the defender wiring diagram.

After some googling, I have found some mentions (e.g. UKSaabs • View topic - Doh! I should know this: +30 & +15 Connections) of these codes as a shorthand for constant on / ignition switched in the automotive industry (apparently +54 indicates ignition switched except when cranking)



Seems like a deeply confusing shorthand to use for electrical connections where the obvious interpretation of a number would be a voltage or current requirements but it seems to be a standard across different manufacturers.
 
The only way of making the cobra immobiliser better than the standard one is to fit an inline fuel cut off solenoid and have it working that. If it goes to the one on the ip it will be just as easy to bypass as the standard immobiliser.

I know this is an old thread but I really could do with a hand fitting a cobra 8510 to my 300TDi.

I have it all wired in except for the 1's and the 2's.
The way I think it works is that the #1 wires go to the stop solenoid and a cut is then made between the two connections (at least 30cm apart).
Similarly, the #2 wires go to the starter solenoid and again a cut is made between the two new connections that must be 30 cm apart.

I am really unfamiliar with a Land Rover engine bay and I could do with a photo of where to make the 1 and 2 wire connections please.
