L322 Range Rover 2004 No constant 12v to starter relay

Hi All,

My 2004 Petrol Range Rover doesn't want to start any more, when I try to start the engine i get nothing. I have accessed the starter relay behind the battery to see if that helps and found that the constant 12v feed in doesn't have 12v, see image. I checked the other connetions and they seem to be correct. I manually fed 12v from the battery to connection and tried to start the engine and I could hear the starter motor trying to start. I have also checked the Fusable Link 2 on top of the fuse board in the glove box which is fine. My next step is taking apart the center console to get at the immobilisation EUC, but before i go stripping down everything i want to see if any one had any other ideas what might be the cause.

What makes you say "constant 12v feed" do you have wiring diagrams? Do you get 12v on that wirer when you turn key to start position?

Normally ignoring the signal feed to a relay and just bridging the connections proves the rest of the circuit. should be no need to feed 12v from battery. "trying to start"? was it spinning the engine over as normal?

When you try to crank the engine, see if your getting voltage at the trigger wire on the starter solenoid. Also check for a feed at the heavy wire on the starter for battery voltage.
If you get no live at the trigger wire you can make a jumper wire from the heavy wire to the trigger wire terminal , this will put the starter into action. 👍

Hi, Im using this diagram, and im assuming that the connection between EUC Engine imobilisation and relay starter should be 12v when i have the ignition on, but its not.

Ok I can sort of see your thinking and would agree, but do you have anymore diagrams? What controls the immobilser ecu?
I take it your remote fob works to get into the car?

When you say you hear the starter trying to start? Do you mean it is turning over like normal when you turn the key?
If so have you checked for power to coils and spark?

I managed to get to the Immobilisation EUC and checked to make sure that had the 12v input, which it did. I then ran a jumper wire between the red and black connections on the engine immobiliser tried to start the engine and it fired into life :D.
So looks like something todo with the Engine Immobiliser EUC but not too sure what the next step would be. Any ideas would be apprecated.

I have tried both sets of keys same issue.
The key fob unlocks and locks the car.
When inserting the key the steering wheel moves into position and i can turn the key to start position no problem.
I have checked all the fuses and they are fine.

I have to agree the immobliser ECU sounds iffy as your keys work.
Do they need coding or plug and play? I don't know, but as its security probably need some sort of coding.

If you dont have diagnostics (if any can do it) it may just be a case of getting 1 with the same numbers and try, if it doesnt work, work out the next move. at least you are up and running.
