Fitting an interior mirror

Morning i have just bought a new interior mirror as when i bought the car mine was missing, anyone got any idea how to fit this as i have tried maytimes and cant get it back on to the lug that is attached to the screen. or will it be a auto window company job?

look at the base of the mirror that goes on the screen for a small set screw if there then back it off and then put on and tighten

There is a Screw but its on the inside of the clip that attaches to the lug, if i loosen and attach i wont be able to retiighten any ideas?

P38 interior mirror just clips onto boss attached to windscreen. Mirror is positioned from bottom and slips on upwards. Make sure you have the correct mirror, there are two types, one pre 99 and in mid 99 the mirror and boss changed.
The later one engages at bottom first then is pushed onto boss at top edge.

Thanks for that i will take another look at it knowing my luck i'll of bought the wrong one, twice as the first one i bought it was broken when arrived

Does anyone know what the fixing should look like the one attached to my windscreen is like a twenty pence piece and i need to know what the mirror slot should look like as i have bought a mirror and i'm sure i have the wrong one

What year is your car,if it's earlier than 99 maybe someone has had a new screen in and fitted the later version. I have a later type mirror sat in front of me and the internals of that look like they would fit over a 20 p shaped boss. I bought it in error, mine is the earlier version.

Just don't get too enthusiatic. I've seen windscreens cracked by people trying to force a mirror on.

Yeah correct, never use anything larger than a 2lb hammer.

The twenty pence shape mirror is the BMW boss. The mirror twists on clockwise about 1/8 of a turn. The back of the mirror looks like a triangle of wire inside.

The later one then, like the one i have. The earlier one had to be pulled down to remove or pushed up to refit.
