I can help with some advice.........

don't bother with a radio or CD - you won't hear bugger all over the god awful noise of your beast in motion unless it's turned up that loud that all you can hear is a distorted blur anyway , no my suggestion is......

hire a brass band to sit in the back and play on demand- only way you're likely to get to hear any music in a defender:D

If you fit a huge sub woofer tweety tweety bling blong you may hear your new beach boys cassette, however you will not be able to hear the engine/propshaft/gearbox as it disintegrates.

I concentrate so much on the sound of the engine that everything else becomes irrelevant. This year i have killed 3 cyclists, 2 pheasants and a badger. None of these have interupted my ocd that my engine could explode at any minute.

I love the fact that my beast is so noisy- haven't had to talk to the kids whilst driving for the last ten years, just nod or shake my head, alternatively, when I see their lips move in the rear view mirror:)

have you thought about humming or whistling -very cost effective and takes no time or effort in terms of having to fit equipment and you can play anything at anytime :)

If i put my lad in the back he bounces around and i risk chipping the paint on his head. I chain him down when theres lightning though...i'm good like that.

you're a right good parent you- I on the other hand like to drive fast over speed humps without telling them we're about to hit one- no probs for me inthe front but in the back they get an out of body experience as they fly faster than the speed of sound to the roof of the beast only for gravity to drag them back down again equally fast - make me laugh every time listening to them moaning- its retribution for all the wet towels left on chairs, clothes not hung up, last minute homework "remembered" and other asstd teenage strops etc :D

:hysterically_laughi this fred is funny :D

this Fred was funnier.........
