First time Land Rover owner

Hey guys I recently purchased a 1985 Land Rover Santana and I know very little about these vehicles, but def enjoy driving it everyday. After some research I am confused if I own a series III or IV. Land Rover and Santana split in 1985 which is the year of mine. How do I figure out which Series I own. Thank you in advance for any and all help.

Hi DeepSea and welcome, I would say a petrol engined series lll.

Its a 2.25 Diesel. Is there anyway to tell specifically? You know tell, tell signs? I want to start doing a little work but do not want to get stuck ordering/buying the wrong parts.

I will get a pic tomorrow, since its pitch black here in Spain, and put it up. Where on the engine will I locate the serial number? These are probably dumb questions but I am a rookie.

is there vents under the front window ?

No there are not vents under the windows.

lhs were front cover meets top of the block theres a flat surface on the side ,or on rhs cam housing top
