First snag! Transmission bolt

I recently got on the road my ol family Land Rover. After sorting the running issues, servicing with all fluids, and getting it to move actual distances I notice the top plate on the transmission is missing a stud and appears to be leaking when running.

I have done the transmission/trans box fluids so she won’t be out yet but I am assuming there is supposed to be a stud in that hole? If so what thread will fit? I am assuming it’s imperial and I am a metric man lost in a world of old English.

any help would be much appreciated

Would be helpful if we knew what model Landy And year and what gearbox/ transfer box,

Hello,
Land Rover series 3 gearbox, unknown year as it was a second hand replacement years ago but has the synchro 1st and 2nd. It’s the plate that’s on show under the middle seat

all series boxes are bsw and bsf ,the end of the stud that goes into the casing is bsw and the other end for nut is bsf
the part number for stud is 217978 nut is 2828
