picked my 94 300tdi discovery up yesterday and it was very slow to turn over so had landrover dealer fit a new battery (£120 fitted ) did about 60 miles and everything fine, came out to it this morning and it was not that cold tbh turned it over and again it was very slow but did start although i have a strange feeling that when i go back to work in a weeks time that if it`s any colder at 5.00am then it just wont start...done 200 miles in it today and i shall see how it starts in the morning but until then any ideas guys?
thanks,paul.

some thing is draining the battery over night the alternator can do this the east way to test this i one night dissconect the battery if that works then there is a drain someware then dissconect the alternator another night to see if that works but tape the turminals up

i'd ensure that all the terminals on battery and starter, were clean, secure and making full contact, and check out the quality of any earths i could find too.

£120 to supply and fit a battery

How hard is it to buy a battery and fit it yerself ? LR dealers love people like you they rub their fooking hands together in glee shouting weve got another one (village idiot ?? ) !!! how shall we mug this one off

geez i'd of fitted it for ya for a pint

on a more civilized note  mines the same until its warmed up then spins up nice all day so its getting an oil change tomorrow have heard tell that old oil can create alot of drag in the engine making it alot harder to turn personally i dont know and im not sure if its bowlocks or not but i'll find out monday morning and let yas know

Fill her up to brim and see if any better .Mines more reluctant on second half of tank.Try double glow plugs.

Mine starts noticeably easier if I put 5w-30 in, as opposed to the 10w-40 I put in last time.

Done an oil change on sunday used 5w-30 as well did seem to turn over alot easier this morning
