Hi, first land rover a few weeks ago, first time in here too.... any way, it's a disco 300tdi 1994... came with two standard keys, get this... off two keys only one side of one key works to turn on ignition (had to put a sticker on it to identify it), the other key-one side opens the passenger door (another colour coded sticker to identify), no key opens the drivers door or engages the central locking. To lock the land rover at night I have to open rear drivers side passenger door then reach in a lock drivers door (which then does central locking of all doors) then close the door. To open landy in morning i have to open passengers front door with key then reach over and open the drivers door by pulling up button which then opens all doors. Phew!! even harder to explain the procedure than do it!! It has fitted an alarm i think as there's a sensor abover rear view mirror, there's also a led light (which is always off) below the radio. I have bought a key fob one button type 418mhz red circut board to see if this will work and solve the whole mess. Can any of you guys help? Will the fob work with the 8 second re programme thing, and does the alarm central locking need re armed etc? also is there any way of using the key fob just to lock the doors as i really dont need the alram? Sorry if this is a tad long winded.... thanks in advance, help would be much appreciated after hours of searching on google etc. Baz, Northern Ireland. (If I could email you all a pint of Guinness I would)!!

Its not my car (I've a TD5) - but while you are waiting for someone to respond it would be worth your going to the search facility at the top of the web page and type in `300tdi central locking'. I saw a number of previous problem and advice strings listed. Someone there may have had the same problem and the advice is there to read.
I hope this helps. :)

Have a look at your central locking ECU - HERE. You need to know whether it is 418mhz or 433mhz to get the right fob. If the central locking is working and you have the right fob you should be able to programme and use it.
