As my aging P38 seems to be developing odd faults, I wondered how sensible it would be to splash out nearly £600 on one of these kits......at the main dealers approx £100 to "plug it in" everytime, its only a few visits.....:(

I wondered what people's thoughts were on the kit and if it was worth investing in.

i would speak to john aka IRISHROVER he as the diagnostics for multi car himself! and i must say its a handy bit of kit as he plugged into mine over xmas with it..and ill be getting it plugged in again in a few weeks ;)

ffs BoB -? is your job to antagonise everyone on here?

yu are the only peep i know who, if yu found a used transparency, would turn it over and use the other side.

before you spend 600 quid, go and check and tighten the earth and possy leads! this is free and can cure a multitude of problems! also check battery voltage and charde rate with a multimeter!

Depends on how long you intend keeping the motor and how often, and what type of faults crop up. If you buy the single vehicle version, it's "Tied" to the first car it's plugged in to. That said, good selling aid if you are looking to get rid of the car in future. I have the multi version and it's saved me money, plus any "Contributions" I have received using it on other cars goes into the pot to enable me to buy additional software modules. Just ask yourself-do I really need it???
Upside is that you don't have to wait to book the car in and can read/clear faults-other than "Hard" faults straightaway.:behindsofa:

It all depends on how long you are planning to keep it. I bought a Faultmate Extreme for mine with gives me stand alone capability, but then I plan to keep my wagon for at least 5 years.

As everyone else has said, it depends on how long you intend keeping your vehicle. I had quite a few problems crop up one after another at one point and it was costing to have it put onto the diagnostics, so i purchased the faultmete msv. Best investment i have ever made, but i do intend keeping my range rover until it drops apart.

That's just what I was thinking Mark - I've spent a small fortune on EAS, aircon, etc etc and each time took hours of trekking somewhere to have it plugged in and reset and about £80 just to "plug in".

Now a lot more stuff is on the brew - I think the dreaded blend motors need replacing as a "service book" just popped up one day shortly after the whole aircon system, including the side fan blender motor on the one side, which had seized up, had been totally overhauled at great cost, and it isn't cooling any longer (no great loss at present, but come a hot summer....). Plus the window / sunroof switch panel seems to have popped its clogs as well. Seems as if the system will be worth it as I have had the Rangie for 4 years and have no intention of getting rid of it (I don't think they sell too well anymore in any case!!)

:)
