failed MOT need help

could someone be able to tell me or show me what the front upper suspension ball joint is and what a draglink end ball joint is please sorry if its a very basic thing to do
i need to do it as i havnt the funds to get a garage to do it

Have a look in Busters photo tour, probably a how to do it there.

Can't think what the "front upper suspension ball joint" is... maybe the beer is muddlin' my heid!Wouldn't be the A-frame ball joint would it??

Do you have a Haynes manual? If you going to have a fender get the f@@kin bible for it and read it most question will be answered?

Haynes manual wont answer anything as they are rubbish.
Just go back to the garage and ask them whats what.
I would say the mot man has just listed the failed itme under a general heading, could be the panhard rod which ois the arm that attaches the front axle to the chassis
Mark stick your location up and a local landyzone forumer might come and point you in the right direction
Google defender parts manual, then upload it, once done search for drag link and you will see a decent exploded pic.

top swivel pin I'd say - probably just needs a shim or two removing.

That would be my vote....thats where a ball joint would be on a normal car.

went back to the mot station today an asked if he could clarify what had failed an trewey had it right top swivel joint remove a shim or 2 an hay presto an the other one is the stearing box arm ball joint it a pitty mot testers arnt landrover trained all he said he doest normaly mots TRACTORS :frusty: ****

I thought tractors were exempt from testing.

they are
