external door lock inoperative

Hi guys
My disco 2 external door lock doesn't work with the key. No sound or feel but turns in the lock and doesn't work.
Do you think it is the actual lock or something in the main latch?
 
seems like the linkage between the key barrel and the latch doesnt actuate... you'll know only if you remove it and take a look
