Ex mod F F R. Engine cuts out when brakes are pressed ??

Hi. Series 3. 2 1/4 petrol. 24v.F.F.R. I know this may sound strange, but when the engine is ticking over and I press the break the engine will cut out, is this a common fault? Maybe a problem with the alternator? I've just fitted to new batteries, any ideas?

dunno mate do you have an alternator ye? as some ffr had dynamos

have you got a brake servo ?
probally find that there is a leak when pressed causing loss of vacum and altering the mixture thus cutting engine out

Either that or someones wired your coil + wire though your brake light switch

.

But Im for the brake servo vac leak ( take your servo vac pipe off and plug it engine side then press the brakes and se what happends - if it dont stall then you'll need a new/good 2nd hand servo

)

Thanks for the info, im going to have a look later, sounds like the servo or I got air brakes fitted !!!!

unplug the wires to the brake light switch and see if it still does it.

Iv unpluged the pipe from the engine side of the servo and sealed it up on the engine side, no probs now no more cuting out, apart from it takes a long time to stop

. ill sort out a secondhand servo asap thanks again
