Hopefully this will be a thread on me 90. This also serves the purpose of self-education in the dark art of photo posting.

Here we gan!

If by some miracle you can see this, then this is what it is all about....

OK so that worked.
Right, this is a 1987 ninety with 120k km on the clock, reg civilian about 15 months ago. Drove it home c.120 miles through a blizzard over the Pennines and it went quite well engine wise though the gearbox is another matter. Got it on the ramp to find a rust free chassis, very good swivels and no untoward or worrying leaks.

Fist job..off with the mil hardtop sides and on with some freshly painted slide window sides. Similar time the spats were junked and some black ones obtained, these came with some rock sliders, well the sills were in a state. Lower back body sides were stripped of x coats of paint, etched primed and painted. This of course had the effect of making the rest look ****e.

It was at this point I realised that to my eyes the sliders looked yuk .....hey-ho.

Looks slightly better than mine when u picked it up. I'll be slowly starting to paint bits soon. Looks good!

Had a bit of a result today...well in my eyes I have, bought everything needed for pas for £150 and been quoted £600 inc. Labour for a recon box. This is from an indie that was til yesterday unknown to me.
Yes Steve it has its original 12j (not a recon) and it does seem to be a nice lump.
Buddy, those photos were the eBay photos taken to make it look good. It is definitely a work in progress.....slow progress.

12J engine is fab, its not quick but easy to maintain and fix and doesnt have all that pointless electrickery and computer controlled gismo nonsense.
My ol 12J got us to the south of France then back to Northern Spain all over the Pyrenees off road! For 68HP am amazed at what those motors can drag you up through and over!.
Look forward to your updates :)

Decided to get some wing side panels from SP, so had fun with a cutting disc.

I always thought that 'Chasing the Dragon' was to do with opium, I rather think it has more to do with trying to cut all the rust out of a Land Rover

My bulkhead was rusted the same, was easy fix :)

Other side has a slight orange weep mark though so over the summer really need to strip and look at it

Very simple this bit, cut some metal then shape it and weld in position over the spaces where the rust was cut out………Yeah right.. I used special metal that shapeshifted and sizeshifted in the short distance from the workbench to the bulkhead. Then the welding..OMG (as the youth say) , well thank God for my secret weapon…very thick zink rich paint.

Just coz I have it, here is a photo of a vehicle that never let me down in 3 years. It cost 500 and was sold for 500. It was good in the snow, had a good heater, was pretty quiet in the cab and the (Mazda) 2.2 ran well on veg oil mix….everybody thought it was uncool!

It doesn't seem like I have achieved much but its taken an age to get there.
Rear capping's, crossmember and door pillar have been cold galv sprayed.
Front wing edge has been cleaned up and acid etched.
Bonnet has been stripped of its furniture, then the rust on the inside scraped and treat with acid.
That's it for now, doesn't seem like much progress but I guess there are times like this.

Got the airbrush out and did the edges where the wing outer fits, also wing fronts where the nas lights will go.

Then trial fitted the wing outer, I am going to have to modify and alter the lip where the outer fits....watch this space!!!

Photos to follow.
