Hey up. I'm Dean from Leeds. Just got my first landy last weekend and having loads of fun. Took it onto some fields near where I live. Only went through a puddle but couldn't stop laughing. It's ace! Wouldn't have been able to do that in the old bmw. Can't believe it's taken me so long to get one. It's a K reg 90 200tdi. It's chugging at the moment so I think it needs a new injector seal/washer. Looked in the haynes manual and it states when refitting the injector, tighten it to the required torque.
Anyone got any idea what the required torque is?

Just another quick question. Since I'm new to all this.
What and when do I need to use hi/low and diff lock?
Probably a stupid question but if you don't ask you don't know.

Basically, on the road, unless you're in reasonably deep snow; use high.
Off-road, use low, the rule of thumb, unless you're trialling, is: as fast as necessary, as slow as possible :)
Use difflock when you feel yourself losing traction in the mud, and once you're through the sticky stuff, knock it off again, or it'll wind up yer tranny, (and we all know how bitchy a wound up tranny can be, don't we;) ) It takes a bit of practice to get used to it, but it comes with practice :D

BTW; the difflock light doesn't always go off right away when you've disengaged it; it's a Land Rover thing; give it a few seconds ;)

Welcome, tis good to have someone else local on here :)

I've only had my Landy a couple of months but have already learnt loads (take a look at the site in my sig!). The great thing is that they are good to work on (lucky that!) so things that would cost a fortune on a normal car you can just do yourself.

Loads of really helpful info on here helps! At the weekend I stripped the rear axle on mine with half shafts out and everything to remove the diff to check it - first time I've ever done that to a car and it would have been simple if it wasn't for the seized bolts! :doh:
