Sorry guys, invited myself along ages ago & then disappear for weeks!! Work been mental!!!
Couple of three things..
RANDY-Im in Braintree, work in Chelmsford so when you're out let me know, I found a couple of lanes round Stisted that are okayish..my disco's a bit shiny as me father in laws painted it so Im avoiding tight lanes for a while! Ive just fitted my CB if you got one..
G-MAN-FORGET going to Motex for car bits!!! You all need to come to me-Motor Parts Direct, Chelmsford CM1 1GU/01245269150 ask for Paul & I'll sort you out!

Anyone know when the next 60 miler is???

Hello mate, I'm a Braintree lad as well. I wish I had your details earlier. I now use Graytec in Braintree for bits. He's a great guy down there but they can be expensive, it would be nice to have a local alternative for parts, just to compare if anything.

I've just ordered a Vacuum advance unit for my V8 today from them.

yeah they are good.Anything you need like servicing stuff, brakes etc I can do good prices on but as we all know mail order stuff from Paddocks etc is so cheap these days its not even worth me tryin! Have you been in Gratechs shop yet? Ive heard its quite good, although Im still trying to reinstate my Rover fund after my wiring loom went tits up!

Been in the shop quite a few time's. I have brought my steering guard and a few other bits from them so not just hanging around for free advice....

He has a modified Discovery and has been great for advice for a newbie like me.

I'm keeping an eye on this thread to see when they local guys are next out, I have avoided using the truck since finding out about my faulty Vacuum advance unit and how much fuel I have wasted because of it. My new one arrives next week so should be able to drive it sensibly and get more than 200 miles for my £78 tank.

V8, more than 200 miles to a tank.... please tell me your secret....
I went out Sunday morning with a mate who has just bought a nice shiny disco to show him how tight some of the lanes are and that once the bushes start growing that it's not going to get any better. You don't get too many nasty ones, most will pollish out..... maybe.
Planning on going to Bures this Sunday for an outing, i know that Becky has already started a thread about a possible meet. I'm hoping that i can follow someone round once there so we can get a good idea of where and what to do.
Foss, i could do with doing a general service on my Disco V8 to try and get a few more horses and MPG, may be in touch for some bits. if you need brake lines and so on, my mate with the shiny Disco that came out yesterday runs Hydrahose/Speed shop in Chelmsford for all your hosing needs.
And finally a warning... if you are laning out near Roxwell/Rodings area then be advised that a farmer/tractor has blocked the lane at Peppers Green with stumps and branches and meansthat you have to do a long reverse back out through a few big holes and ditches. really needs to be cleared with a chain saw or a few big blokes with half an hour to spare. not an easy reverse.

your within your rights to winch tow that outta the way.Get a decent length of rope/strops/chains and hey presto-obstacle gone!

I was going to but didn't know who i might upset as it looked very fresh.... i got a feeling that it might be as a result of some ppeople playing a bit further up from there in the woods by the side of the lane. i also didn't really have time and felt that it might look more like vandilism if i got caught half way through....

You would have been in the right but i suspect your right about getting moaned at, bit like when that bird moaned at us when we aere out laning.We interrupted her fly tipping her garden waste on the lane!

I came across two burn't out cars and a caravan while out, that's the problem when they lay the chippings down, all the lanes start becoming accesable, even for old dears with garden waste.
anyway, strength in numbers is what i say....

Couldve been worse-there could have been poeple living in it!!!
Theres a lane by the Blue Egg farm shop out Bardfield way & the farmers up ended 2 steel girders at the end of it that you could just about get a SMART car through-reversed into a tree last year getting out of that one! GIT.
