Evening all.
Just been looking at the Bures Pit website and its shutting down for the summer, I guess this is normal?
Next one is Sunday May 8th and then its shut until 23rd Oct!
I'm supposed to be spending the weekend in London. Is anyone planning a visit on the 8th if so I might try and get out of the London trip.

I am not going cant warrent the chagre at the mo there, also the folowing weekend is the suffolk 4x4 show, and the weekend after taht its the newborne driving day, so will give this a miss.

Got to top up the funds again after the chequer plate kit and the sliders :eek:

Understand, maybe later in the year. if i can get out of London then I may go anyway as I've never been before and I don't want to have to wait until Oct.

My Jate Rings turned up the other day (Yay!) - now just need to find the time to fit them.

I have a noob question - are Jate rings only designed to be fitted to the rear (I have a Disco 1 200 tdi) or can they be fitted at the front too?

They'll go on the front too. Undo the lower bumper bolts and they'll go there.

I had them on mine but my new bumper and steering guard has recovery points so didn't bother (well, couldn't really) fit them.

I have another set if you wish to buy some for the front too. Only used once.
 
I have at last discovered the reason my Disco is smoking.

The Turbo is shagged.

There is plenty of play in the spindle so at least I know the engine is not dead.

I also found out that some people have more money than sense.

I rang a friend of a friend who was breaking a Disco to see if he had a Turbo for sale. He did and he said it had a little play up and down in the spindle, but not in and out, but I thought it should be the other way. Up and down indicates bearing wear surely?

Anyway I asked hom how much and he wants £100. Its a little bit rich for me as I only want to get the thing running cleanly again to sell it on and I politely said so, and said I would look around on ebay.

He asked me how much I was offering and pushed me to make an offer and I said i'm looking to spend about half that.

He said ' I would rather throw it in the skip than take that for it' Not that I was offering him that for it, he just asked what I was looking to pay.

I know my mate would have not paid more than that, butI was taken aback that someone had that attitude. I would love to able to afford to chuck £50 notes away.... :lol:
 
Just searched on ebay and the nearest one breaking was in Manningtree.

The guys wants £50 for it, job done.

Was very easy to get my price, just one more call and a 2 minute search.

I appreciate that some people want good money for what they sell, and I am one of them, but I thought the attitude of rather skipping it than taking good money and helping a fellow human being out was just crap.

As I said I did not even make that offer, he asked what I was looking to pay... :)

I have to sell it, I cant afford to run it and I owe a large sum of money to someone for something I brought for my Astra Project. ;)

Yes you can use Jate Rings on the front as matt has said, my suggestion is to buy a steering gaurd with recovery points in it

I got mine from

Yardley Engineering in Billericay for about £70 in delivery, matt has just brought one from there as well i beleve. think a set of Jates is about £30ish
