Disco 1 Engine stops

Driving thro Brecon (last Saturday) at about 20mph and engine stops , coast to halt anf tried the key, engine turned over as normal but no start. Free wheeled into kerb thinking to phone for a tow, tried the key and engine started and has been driven since for a hundred miles without a problem.
Any ideas? full tank, battery perfect, puzzled.

Ok, petrol or diesel, manual or auto and model year?? And of course what have u checked so far?

Oh Dear. Basic to state petrol or diesel, as with the majority a diesel of 1996 vintage and manual gears. As it started again have had nothing to check, just puzzled that the engine fired up and has run perfectly since! Should mention boot etc and inner wings etc rebuilt over the last 3 years.

sudden stop is often electrical ie poor connection to fuel pump solenoid, dying is usually fuel ie air,pump is self bleeding so will cope with some but can momentarily be overcome, youd have to check sender unit under boot floor, sedimenter behind chassis near rear wheel,lift pump and filter

Thank you James, will pass the info onto my friendly mech, afraid to old to to do myself. Oh to be under 70 again.
