Can anyone tell me what engine this is, what vehicle it probably originated from and how old it might be? It is fitted to a series 3 Landy I've just aquired. I'm new to Land Rovers so I'm a bit in the dark.

Can you find any numbers ?
 
Discovery most likely, but could have been an RRC or even a Defender, but the manifold would be different for a Defender.
