Engine De-sludgers

Do these cans of additives work on 150000 mile oil burnners (TD4) or are they just another spin to get are £££.

My mate is into the modding scene (max power) etc in a big way and he is always stripping and rebuilding engines. In his opinion, modern oils and fuels all have detergent etc in them and an engine simply wont build up the sludge etc that they used to in the bad old days.
I dont know how true this is, but he recons that build up is more or less zero and therefore all these products are a con.

Hi, mi only concern with an engine flush it nackering the turbo bearings, they're temprimental enough with out running a flush through and severly altering the lube characteristic of yer oil. as rogue says theres enough detergent in modern oils, I wouldn't chance it unless your loaded and wunt mind fitting a new turbo if the worst happened,

just remember that all that sludge that your additive has dislodged has to come out somewhere and can block the CAT if your unlucky enough.
