Hi
I bought my k series freelander 6 months ago.
It's fitted with the wrong engine bracket. The part that bolts on to the side of the engine that the engine mount is bolted too. The bracket is from a k series engine but not freelander. So the engine isn't level. I've had two goes at get the bracket off. I've jacked up the car. Removed the engine mount. Undone the 4 bolts then I'm stuck! I can't figure out what's keeping it attached to the engine. It budges ever so slightly but I can't get it off. Can the cam belt cover be keep the bracket in place?
Any ideas.

The bottom bolt comes out.
The top three I can loosen but not remove as they are too long and hit the inside of the wing.
Even with the thread partially slackened off you'd think the bracket would move a bit but no. Nothing. Big hammer nothing!
It looks like a cast bracket not aluminium do you think it could have bonded to the engine?
I get some photos in the morning.
Thanks
Kevin

You have to remove the bolts completely, or the threads will snag. Lifting the engine from below will give you more room to get the bolts out. ;)

Not sure if lowering will give you the room - you will probably have to lift as Nodge says.

You could also remove the lower tie bar - that may let the engine move back far enough to get the bolts out - but be careful not to damage the mount at the gearbox end.

Hmm, watching with interest!

I've got the four bolts out.
I think because the bracket has a lip that sits behind the cam belt cover, it's the lower cam belt cover that's jamming it in place. I've tried pulling the can belt cover back to ease the bracket out but no luck
There's been a lot more swearing here this morning!

It's off!
The bracket on the right has 5 bolt holes.
The bracket on the left (the correct one) has 4 bolts holes.
This explains why I couldn't get it off!
I've broken the lower cam belt cover... but it's off!
