Taken a leap of blind faith, impulsive stupidity, whatever you like to call it, bought our 1st Defender this weekend from a wheeler dealer in Egham, couldn't drive it away on saturday because when you turned the steering wheel the tyres pointed forwards but the body floated from side to side, found a worn bush on the steering arm thingy (i'll get a manual & will be able to call the parts by their correct names, whats a good one to go for?) and a knackered ball joint which the dealer has replaced today, so tomorrow morning we collect it with some apprehension but mostly excitement!
Will let you know how we get on. Yeehaa.

Thanks for hello's etc, there's no warranty, i'm reasonably ok with what it cost, it goes in a straight line, tends to feel like it's about to tuck in round tight corners & mini roundabouts, though i like the idea of just driving over them. it's only got skinny tyres, i'll check the size tomorrow, they're not all the same make so i dont suppose that helps much. As for the heating, we have no idea which lever does what, trial & error might help, failing that is a Haynes manual any good?, didn't like the haynes VW manuals much. What's the best one to go for? Hole in front chassis right hand side about 3 " long, hole to right of windscreen, thats about all, have to get the MIG out at the weekend then find some mud. Bloody well loving it though. see y'all later. xxx ski.
