hi guys

a decent cordless impact wrenches are silly money and wondering what the views are on 240v ones plse

what kind of min nm would u use plse, ie 400nm , seeing that’s what the suspensions bolts are done up to, but of course has to be higher due to being able to break the actual nut to get it undone with age etc

the compressor came part as a kit, air wrench inc uses 4.5 cfm , mines runs 9.5cfm

so as cordless wrench ones are silly money i thought about a 240v one ;):D:D

I'd really question the "it's a well known name" bit, Clarke are really just well known for rebadging other people's tools (normally Chinese,which nowadays aren't necessarily bad) for example have you seen how similar this is for £30 less

I bought a cheap lidl 240v impact recently and it does most things well enough it can be a bit slow at times but does get there in the end and I don't have to drag out the compressor or find/charge a load of flat batteries.

Yes cordless Are stupid money.. but my dewalt cordless one has a breakaway torque of 1200nm
Mental I know.. but even the seemingly easy looking bolts can stop the fecka dead in its tracks !!
If your going the corded route.. please stay away from makita we changed all our tools last year to the cost of thousands to dewalt .. as Makita now are poor quality and we were replacing grinders and drills weekly ..and they would not exchange them as they classed it as abuse!! We classed it as not up to the job ,, yes we are heavy handed, yes we are careless but they should cater for that when designing there tools.. makita now is no better than park side stuff you get at that Lidl Aldi place..
We’ve had the same dewalt grinders and drills for a year now... and still going strong..

Clark is mid way hobby shop, but look for something around 900 nm at least.. as you will be wasting your money my friend..
400 nm is great for doing up bolts .. but fir undoing stubborn ones you need stupid amounts of break off power..
If it’s just fir one job .. go to your local hire shop, 15 quid a day and you can hire some industrial nut snappers from them.. hope this helps bud

thks and that’s good to know , dont get that kind of info elsewhere

am basing the nm on what the bolts are done up to on my suspension , ie min of 400nm

always prefer the ask the daft questions , lol

We play with some big bits of steel and m30
Bolts.. so we have an inch drive impact gun also .. but it’s to big to get under ya wheel arch

many thks , in all fairness the proposed jobs don’t bother me as i will be getting help from great mates , but good to at least have some half decent tools myself , even things like getting simple wheel nuts off can be a right pig

know i sound like a broken record but wish to take strain off my back , but know mates will always be there in a heart beat when i need a hand, but having something like a decent impact wrench might be the difference if i had a flat for example of getting the wheel undone or not

must admit would never use an impact wrench to do things up, torque wrench only , just with high torque so i don’t start damaging or snapping bolts , ok i feel to run the nut up the thread but not to tighten if that’s makes sense

thks again and is good knowing things like this and appreciate all the feedback

bloody hell, that’s some serious nm, ie the 1200 u mentioned

surprised it doesn’t take 2 x people to just lift it , lol

It is ideal to have one at hand ..
They are an invaluable tool.. but 900 mm minimum I would say!!
Even fir cracking off wheel nuts..
But if you can get a cordless it is handy..
As if you need to change a wheel in the middle of the countryside you will need one long extension cable with a 240 one

I bought that exact impact for 60 notes about 4 years ago, it's decent - only comes out once / twice a month for a few bolts in all honesty, but not found a bolt or nut too tight for it so far - and its seen a few rear ends on old e46 bmw's and a couple of crank bolts on various motors, along with plenty of work shearing fasteners on a 40 year old mazda. Only real downside is it is about twice the size of a good air rattler, and you have to sit on the trigger for 30 odd seconds sometimes for the really tight buggers, it's only little as weldy said :D.

Just that one...from screwfix.. it can put out nearly a 1000 constantly but initial kicks are 1250 we have the dual voltage 18/54 v 9 ah batteries in them though and they are 160 quid each
