I am seeking help to resolve two problems which I think maybe related to each other.
I have a 2001 P38 4.0 Westminster.
When alarming the car the indicator lights do not flash although the central locking works fine.
The compressor pump runs very regularly (more than it should) I am told by my local RR garage.

  • I have had four new air bags fitted fitted.
  • The system checked for air leaks.
  • The garage tested on their computer for EAS faults. No faults showed on the screen.
  • As a test the garage fitted a new compressor. This again ran continuously. They left the old compressor on the vehicle.
I have noticed of late the front raises and lowers itself when stationary with the engine running.

I did read on another forum a chap had a similar problem with the alarming of the car and compressor problems. I have tried to find the thread with not much luck.

I would appreciate any help in resolving the probs.

The alarm has various settings in the BECM for flashing indicators or sidelights so it's possible that this has just turned itself off. I'm sure that one of the BECM wizards will be along some time either this evening or over the weekend to give you a definitive answer.

The suspension not settling but without leaks points to a failing height sensor. If it's started happening after the bags were fitted then it might have been disturbed when the car was jacked up to do the work.

I don't know of any link between the two but I'm still learning so it'll interesting to see if anyone else has a idea.

Alarm function probably disabled in the Becm.
With the alarm disabled, it still can't be nicked because the passive coil around the ignition switch prompts the keyfob to send it's code again before the car can start. No Code..no start.
That said the passive immobiliser can be disabled in the Becm settings but the car cannot be "Hot wired".
If you are concerned, get the Becm settings checked by an independant or stealer and enabled to your preference.

And just as I said - a wizard pops up

We had a BBQ this afternoon in the heatwave (20 deg) and I cracked a bottle or two open :beer2::beer2: The weather forecasting bastids are giving night FROST for the middle of next week:eek:
Jammie Dodgers dunked in Shiraz don't taste all that good. I'm saving myself for the next trip over !! I see from the TV adverts that they have bought out Toffee Dodgers....don't seem to have the same ring about them somehow.
Anyway, it's Bank hol. weekend over here..I know, the Paddies are always behind the Brits. so there's every chance that I will get that funny feeling in my legs again over the weekend but at least my kidneys will get a good flush through......again !!
Just a thought....I've had a few mails from Gemsdad but haven't seen him posting on here for a bit. Any news ???
Also, Mikepolly....what happened to him.
