its been done where i work . its not mine . full rebuild , the best part of 100 grand with buying and rebuilding

its a nice car, but.
if you can afford it,
then its about time you left our dying country,
if you dont think you need to leave,
then drive your car about in happiness for a year,
as tomorrow it too will begin to rot away as it did originally,
hence the multi £££ 1000 pound resto job.
If you still insist to remain a true brit,
then you know your true brit car was a rusting deathtrap on wheels in its prime,
made even worse after years of our weather.

it wont be a rusting death trap no more ... and with modern day parts fitted they drive and handle very well indeed.
it now should last another 60 years or more

i work on these everyday , we have a workshop full of them, so always plenty to take pics of. got another rebuild on the go now.

hell yes, I was told many years ago by a member of that rarified group the e type owner, that the original ones wernt even painted underneath when they left the factory
. Dunno how true that is, but certainly possible.

there are a few modern ones i can mention that are worse for rot
ford KA known for the front crossmember front mount rails wheel arches floorpans inner/outer sills rear axle mount plates boot floor rotting for fun within 6 years from being brand new
ford fiesta ^^^^^^^ see KA
citroen saxo floor rails front floorpans bulkhead centre section boot floor at either side next to the wheel arches rear valance and sills inner/outer
fiat punto door bottoms sills front valance inner front wings round shocker leg top mountings and round seat belt anchor points in floors and sills and boot hatch hinge points
renault meganne sport boot floor pan front door pillars behind door hinge anchors front engine mounts rear hatch landing pannel front crossmember splits windscreen bottom edge and rear wheel arches

a classic case of cars build in that 1960 era. they were ****. no wax oil , and cheap metal, hardly any underseal ,from new. but with modern day parts and materials you can get a well built car now days , with 100k to spend.

I like old Jags me dad was a proper panel beater used to make complete bodies from scratch, not Jags I hasten to ad but there are firms that make lightweight aluminium bodies for E types, I often wished I had took that work path when I left school.
